Upholstery and Custom Furniture

For 50 years, we have used the best materials, techniques, and skilled artisans to bring your vision to reality and to deliver uncompromising quality. We focus on the details that make a difference to bring you a top-quality piece of custom furniture.

Whether you are reupholstering an existing piece of furniture, selecting something from our online catalog, or wish to work with a consultant to design something new, we can help you with your dream furnishings.

Custom Furniture Process

Custom Furniture Process

Step 1: Idea or Image Stage.

This is where you get to create something that doesn’t exist yet! The look and size of the piece are key to this part of the process. You can send in an image of a piece you like or describe it to us, and getting the dimensions that will fit your space is key.

Things we need are:

      • Inspiration image (from the internet or drawn).
      • Overall dimensions (intended– can be tweaked in shop drawing based on our trying to help you achieve the ideal piece).
      • Fabric (selection from our suppliers or description of your own COM fabric).
      • Any wood or metal parts and the finishes that would go with them.

Step 2: Feel.

Next, you can move on to comfort. As far as comfort goes, most people trust in our process, which is to make each piece as comfortable as possible within the constraints of the style and without large cost increases. If you are designing a sofa to lounge and watch shows, you’d want to maximize comfort, whereas if it is a formal sitting room, you would maximize the best look for the furniture so you don’t have to always be fluffing your cushions to get it to look all right.

Step 3: Select Cushioning.

Cushion options include: softest, soft, standard seat, firmer, and bench foam. Then you can have just foam with bonded dacron, foam cores with a down envelope, batting only, feather/down only, etc.  Most people choose to trust our process and use what we recommend, but if you want something specific or a specific comfort level, mark that down here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take?

Each piece takes a different amount of time however, we recommend planning to have your piece in our shop for between 2-4 weeks.

How long should it last?

With standard residential use, the upholstery should last between 10 and 20 years, and foam should last between 20 and 25 years. However, the quality of your fabric and how well you maintain it play a huge role in how long your piece will last.

How much does it cost to reupholster something?

While we cannot give you an exact cost for your specific piece without seeing a picture and getting dimensions, sofas tend to cost between $2,000-$3,000, armchairs tend to cost between $750-$1,250, and dining chairs tend to cost between $75-$210. These prices include labor and an average-priced fabric.

Fast, professional, and great work! I had torn about a 6 inch hole in the top of a brand new sectional. They were able to get me a quote and get on site to fix it within the week and the repair is indistinguishable from the original. Very good experience and outcome.

I shopped around a little and found that they had the best prices and turnaround time. Everyone was very friendly every time I came, and they actually completed my order quicker than expected and under their estimated price. The quality of their work is exactly what I was hoping for. Highly recommend!

Beautiful! We needed our 18-year-old chairs reupholstered and so happy that we found Craftsman Upholstery Co. in Orem. They picked up and delivered, and the price was good! We couldn’t be happier. They look better than new.

Alison Chuntz

They did such a beautiful job upolstering this 1800's antique chair... I LOVE how it turned out. As they have a lot of work in their queue it took several months, but as you can see it was well worth the wait! I already left another project with them. I highly recommend Craftsman Upholstery & Interiors.

Bob Hilke

Super helpful friendly very knowledgeable helped me design and coordinate my color scheme for my living room I was nervous about it but it came together beautifully the work quality was superb the only thing I didn't like was the time it took they did tell me from the being they were booked ahead for weeks. I just didn't want to wait but I am so glad I did.

Absolutely LOVE the Craftsman team! They're so accommodating and easy to work with. I had a large project for a client wanting all custom pieces and an extremely tight deadline. They not only met the deadline, but the furniture they built for me was exceptional! I can't recommend them enough!
